Kevin Blackler is a Grammy-winning and multi-nominated mastering engineer with over 20 years of experience in the audio industry. In 2025, he mastered the Grammy-winning album for pianist Zaccai Curtis and earned a Grammy nomination for his work on The Harlem Gospel Travelers’ album. He was also nominated for a Grammy in 2020 for saxophonist Melissa Aldana’s album.

Kevin began his career in Chicago, IL, working as an assistant engineer at the historic Paragon Studios. He later attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, where he majored in Music Production & Engineering. After graduating, he was hired as an assistant mastering engineer at Sony Music Studios in midtown Manhattan, eventually earning a promotion to staff mastering engineer. During his time at Sony, Kevin worked on projects for world-renowned artists, including Billy Joel, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kanye West, Beyoncé, MUSE, Mastodon, Bob Dylan, and Harry Connick Jr.

In 2007, after Sony announced the studio’s closure, Kevin purchased and relocated the mastering suite he worked in—originally designed by acoustician George Augsperger—to Brooklyn, NY, founding Blackler Mastering. Since then, he has worked with a diverse range of artists, from local NYC independent musicians to industry legends. His mastering credits include work for Nikolai Fraiture (of The Strokes), Sean Ono Lennon, jazz greats Lee Konitz, Wallace Roney, Tootie Heath, and Joey DeFrancesco, rap icons Prodigy (of Mobb Deep), Big Daddy Kane, and Pete Rock, as well as reggae legends Buju Banton, Beenie Man, and Toots and the Maytals.

Kevin continues to shape the sound of critically acclaimed records, blending technical mastery with a deep musical understanding, making him one of the most sought-after mastering engineers in the industry today.
